Things to Know About Yellowstone National Park Campgrounds
Researching and reviewing the campgrounds that Yellowstone National Park has to offer may be overwhelming at first with so many different options, but here we will break down what you need to know and how to book a site. Even from the campgrounds alone and where they are situated in the park, it will come down to what your preferences are and what you are looking for out of your stay at Yellowstone National Park.
First thing to know – the campgrounds in Yellowstone are run and can be reserved through two different entities.
The campgrounds serviced by the Yellowstone National Park Lodges are usually the larger, well kept sites and reservable. The ones through the National Park Service are usually smaller, more remote with less amenities and typically first come first serve.
Tips: if you’re going for first come first serve, I’d recommend getting there in the morning around 8am at the latest and wait for people to check out usually by noon. A lot of guests are usually checking out early and you can try to snag one before check in time.
